What is I-RECs?

A type of Energy Attribute Certificate (EAC) used globally to track and verify the production and consumption of renewable electricity.

I-RECs (International Renewable Energy Certificates) allow organizations to credibly claim they have consumed renewable energy. Each I-REC represents proof that one megawatt-hour (MWh) of electricity was generated from an eligible renewable energy resource and fed into the grid. They are widely used in regions where national certification systems do not exist, helping companies meet their Scope 2 emissions reduction targets.
